EP-freshwater Eutrophication potential - freshwater

Eutrophication means the oversaturation of an ecosystem with non-organic nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus compounds.
For freshwater systems, aquatic eutrophication via the entry of phosphorus (P) compounds via soil and water is mainly relevant.
The eutrophication potential due to nutrient fractions getting into the fresh water (EP freshwater) is calculated according to the EUTREND model (as implemented in ReCiPe).
For the calculation the EK-JRC characterization factors shall be used: http://eplca.jrc.ec.europa.eu/LCDN/developerEF.xhtml
