3. 2. 2. Additional criterion: Products made of natural materials

Ecological and socio-economic advantages of the use of renewable raw materials are that [Zwiener 2006]:

• they regrow within short lifecycles;
• smaller quantities of finite resources are needed;
• a closed-loop approach is pursued (circular economy);
• it contributes to climate protection (carbon binding);
• it contributes to the preservation of biodiversity;
• sustainable forms of economy are fostered;
• it provides opportunities for innovative research and development;
• it increases the competitiveness of agriculture and forestry as well as the corresponding upstream and downstream industries.

Products shall consist primarily of renewable or mineral raw materials (≥ 85% by weight).

• natureplus quality label.
