2. 2. 14. Avoiding the spread of HBCD

description relevant product categories

Currently, there is no economic way of recycling for EPS insulation materials. EPS is usually coarsegrained and reused in products like insulating fills, insulating plasters and even bituminous coatings. HBCD, the so far contained flame retardant in EPS-insulation materials, is now classified as SVHC and POP. Consequently its recycling in any form is strictly forbidden.

minimum requirement

Products containing EPS must only contain HBCD-free EPS. Mixtures of HBCD-free and HBCD-containing EPS are not admissible.

Safety data sheet as amended by Regulation (EU) No 453/2010, and manufacturer's declaration for the EPS used.

Alternatively, the corresponding baubook declaration may serve as evidence (www.baubook.info/oea).
