Chemical rooting agents are used in root-resistant bitumen membranes, e.g. esters of the herbicide active ingredients Mecoprop (MCPP), Mecoprop-P (MCPP-P) or 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxy acetic acid (MCPA). During rain events, the respective active ingredient is created through hydrolysis, which can enter the environment via runoff rainwater.
Bitumen membranes must not have added any chemical rooting agents.
